Spring 2021 Season

Dear Santa Clara Westside Little League Community:

Welcome to another season at Santa Clara Westside Little League (SCWLL)! This will certainly be a unique season given the ongoing COVID-19 public health risks. But after having to cancel our 2020 season early, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide baseball activities for the kids this year.

If you have not yet, please review our 2021 Safety Plan. Our Safety Plan, is intended to inform league participants with respect to the league’s safety standards and to provide key safety information and guidelines to help promote the health and well-being of our athletes, volunteers, and our league. We will update the Safety Plan as state and local guidance changes. Every member of SCWLL has a responsibility to follow all safety rules and to take an active role in identifying and communicating safety issues that may arise during the season.

Some highlights from the Safety Plan:

  • Face coverings are required at all times. Do not lower your face covering to talk or shout.
  • Spectators are limited to immediate family members. All spectators must wear a face covering and maintain social distancing requirements.
  • Bleachers will be closed to spectators. Bleachers may be utilized by teams as overflow to maintain social distancing requirements, as needed.
  • The snack shack will be closed, so please send sufficient water with child(ren). Drinks/water bottles and other personal items/equipment should be labeled with the athlete’s name and must not be shared.
  • No post-game team meetings or snacks.
  • A mandatory symptom check must be completed prior to every practice and game. If your team is using a team app like TeamSnap or Gamechanger, use that. If your team is not using a team app, use SCWLL's online COVID-19 Mandatory Symptom Check Form.
  • Immediately notify your manager and the Safety Officer and stay home if your child is diagnosed with COVID-19, had a known close contact, and/or if they are experiencing any signs of illness.
  • Non-compliance with COVID-19 mitigation measures may result in the loss of our City of Santa Clara and/or SCUSD field permit(s) and puts SCWLL at risk for enforcement.

In closing, please remember that our collective safety depends upon all of us. Adhere to all state and county public health orders, and honor the precautions we’ve put in place this year. Protect the children, protect yourself, and protect each other. If you see something, say something. Please report to the Safety Officer and/or your manager all accidents or safety infractions when they occur.

Now, play ball… and play safe!
